ABOUT DANIELLE

“To see a world in a grain of sand/And heaven in a wild flower” –William Blake, 1863

I am a creative person, writer, and university professor living in Polk County, MN with my husband and our dog. In July 2024, I started looking for and identifying wildflowers after seeing a big meadow of lavender flowers in Lake of the Woods County, MN. At first, the meadow looked like water. I had to know more about those flowers.

I’m more of an indoor person. I like to study and read. When I was a kid and my family went camping, I often spent time in the camper, watching VHS movies. I also fear snakes. When you’re afraid to look at the ground, it’s hard to find flowers. But the urge to discover persists. I clench my fists, close my eyes, and take a few steps into the weeds. While I am a lifelong creative writer, this is my first real blog. The treasures of nature help me relieve stress and reflect on the cosmos.
